We have the attention span of a goldfish, especially when it comes to social.

We scroll and scroll and see exactly what we expect to:

➖curated shots
➖matchy aesthetics
➖minimal colours
➖filters that take off 10 years
➖blurry videos with sh*t audio
➖generic content made for everyone

So we just keep scrolling, right?
But think about what makes us stop…

👀something weird
👀something different
👀 something unexpected
👀 something super targeted for us
👀 or even something controversial

When we see something that can disrupt the patterns around us, we pay attention.

Now, not every organic post needs to use pattern interruption, but your ads do.

No matter how good your funnel is, if you can’t get users to stop their scroll with unique and pattern-interrupting content, they’ll never make it through to read your fancy copywriting or convert on your website.

When you need to stop the scroll, give the people what they don’t expect to see… like a woman in a suit and baby swings in front of a snow-covered mountain. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Christmas isn’t always warm and fuzzy. Sometimes it’s 💩

Sometimes weather, cars, money, health - and life in general - can get in the way of the joy you’re *supposed* to feel.

Well this year, life has thrown multiple lemons and I’m missing Christmas morning with the family and my 7-year-old’s birthday on the same day.

I’m over here sad as hell but also grateful to be safe and sound in a warm home with a family out there that I can actually miss.

So I’m going grab those lemons to make lemonade and add some EXTRA @topshelfvodka. Whatever Christmas looks like for you this year - cheers to it. 🍋
